The Jamboree was first held in 1990 at the “Front Gate”! Yep, that’s right – believe it…the Stage was where the Front Gate is & the camping was all in those first front fields! Our first Jamboree patrons were no party poopers – it started raining Saturday night and & it just poured & poured…..we all donned green garbage bags – kept on dancin’…..’til we couldn’t dance in the mud anymore! We loaded up everyone in the back of all the pick up trucks we could & headed over to the Havelock Arena – where we helped the band set up and continued to party!! Hence, the first Jamboree is fondly remembered by us old-tymers as the “Jamborena”! We knew then that the Jamboree would carry on as an annual event – everyone loved it - come Rain or Shine!! Since then we’ve grown into a full-fledged Campground – complete with roads, new gates and numbered camping sites! Keeps us busy all year long!
