Jetty Road

Jetty Road is now officially in the Australian Country Music spotlight.

After winning one of Australia’s highest country music accolades in January this year, the Golden Guitar Award for Best Group, identical twin sisters, Lee and Paula Bowman, Julian Sammut and Simon Ross are members of what is now being touted Australia’s hottest country band.

The four friends met whilst studying at Music College in Melbourne, Australia, and after a few years began writing and recording their unique country pop blend, releasing their debut album Full Circle in 2005, the follow up album, Dirt Roads City Lights in 2007, and most recently, their multi award winning album, Million Miles in 2009.

Since releasing Full Circle the band have had seven tracks appear in the Top 20 on Australian country radio, 3 of those in the top 10, with Million Miles staying the number 1 position for 6 consecutive weeks. Heart And Soul, Real Smooth Cowboy, I Wanna Go Home, City Lights, Good Times (#2 for 4 weeks), Million Miles, (#1 for 6 weeks), and most recently, World Keeps Turning (#2 for 3 weeks).

Six of the video clips for these tracks have appeared in the Top 10 on the CMC Top 30 chart (Country Music Channel) - 3 of them to the coveted #1 position, City Lights (2008), Million Miles (2009) and World Keeps Turning (2009).

Along with strong chart success, Jetty Road have taken home many awards over the past few years, including their first Golden Guitar award at the 38th CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia for Best Group / Duo in January 2010.

Having already been presented with key country music awards, including Australian Independent Artist of the Year, Australian Independent Album of the Year for their album Life At A Million Miles and Australian Independent Group/Duo of the Year, Jetty Road were honoured to have been nominated for 3  Golden Guitars, and taking home one of them in 2010.

Touring their home country of Australia numerous times, Jetty Road has spent the past two years focusing on taking their music to the world stage.

June 2008 saw Jetty Road performing on main stage at Dauphin Countryfest in Canada alongside Alan Jackson, Lonestar and Emerson Drive. The performed in Nashville at the prestigious CMA Global Artist Showcase during the annual CMA Music Festival later that month and were the first country music artist to perform at the Hard Rock Café in Paris whilst on tour throughout France and the United Kingdom.

Since releasing their latest album, the band has travelled over 25,000 kilometres on the Life At A Million Miles Tour. The tour encompassed a performance on the main stage at the Merritt Mountain Country Music Festival alongside Kenny Chesney, Steve Miller Band, Emerson Drive, Doc Walker and Johnny Reid, and included the band being inducted into the Merritt Walk of Stars.

Some of country music’s biggest stars have been honoured with a position on the Merritt Walk of Stars, including Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Brad Paisley, the Dixie Chicks, Toby Keith and only one other Australian country music artist - Keith Urban. Jetty Road made their impact on the Canadian country music scene with an imprint of their hands in the sidewalk and an accompanying mural of the band painted on the town.

They then moved onto opening for music icon, Glen Campbell at Canada’s #1 Country Music Festival, Big Valley Jamboree, before heading south to the USA where they performed alongside country music’s most successful duo, Brooks and Dunn at We Fest in Minnesota. This mammoth 3 day outdoor festival drew a crowd of over 70,000 people and featured Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Toby Keith and Trace Adkins.

Returning to Australia in late 2009 for major festivals including the National Music Muster and the Tamworth Country Music Festival, 2010 sees Jetty Road competing against 19 other key Australian country music artists for the coveted CMC Oz Artist of the Year Award. Presented at the 2010 CMC Rocks The Snowys Festival in March next year, where Jetty Road will be performing, this is the first time the band have been nominated for this award.
